Boosey & Hawkes Aquires Major New Rachmaninoff Copyrights - Contract Includes Composer's Late Works Written in America

Sergei Rachmaninoff The publisher Boosey & Hawkes recently announced its acquisition of copyrights in a substantial number of major works by Serge Rachmaninoff, including the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Symphonic Dances, Symphony No. 3, and the Corelli Variations for piano.

All of these works date from the 1930s when Rachmaninoff was living in the U.S. after emigrating from Russia in 1917 to escape the political situation.

With its new acquisition, the Boosey & Hawkes catalogue now includes all the major works of Rachmaninoff, including the complete piano concertos and operas, and the bulk of his orchestral works, piano pieces, songs and chamber music.

For an interim period the rental of performing materials for the works in the new agreement will continue to be handled by Music Sales worldwide.
