OLLY WILSON APPOINTED TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE FROMM MUSIC FOUNDATION AT HARVARD UNIVERSITY
Fromm Foundation
Founded by the late Paul Fromm, the Fromm Music Foundation has commissioned over 300 new compositions and their performances, and has sponsored hundreds of new music concerts and concert series, among them Tanglewood's Festival of Contemporary Music. Highlights of the past two seasons have included the awarding of twenty-one commissions, one of which, Melinda Wagner's Concerto for Flute, Percussion and Strings received the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Music.
By selecting ten composers to receive Fromm commissions each year and by subsidizing premiere performances of the commissioned works, the Foundation seeks to strengthen composition and to bring contemporary concert music closer to the public. Applications for commissions are reviewed on an annual basis. The annual deadline for proposals is June 1. Requests for guidelines should be sent to The Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard, Department of Music, Harvard University, Cambridge MA 02138.
