COMPOSER RECEIVES AMERICAN ACADEMY IN BERLIN PRIZE FELLOWSHIP

Laura Elise Schwendinger recently received a fellowship from the American Academy in Berlin. The Academy is an institute for advanced study that occupies a 40-room villa, the Hans Arnhold Center in the Wannsee section of Berlin. Ms. Schwendinger is the first composer to receive this fellowship which provides a monthly stipend, travel reimbursement, travel allowance, housing, meals, and other benefits Ms. Schwendinger received her Ph.D from the University of California, Berkeley and is currently Assistant Professor of Composition and Theory at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
