Walter Hinrichsen Award: Susan Forrest Harding

Susan Forrest Harding has received awards from the Illinois Arts Council, the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, and the Fulbright Commission. She won first prize in the International Society of Contemporary Music's National Composers Competition. Her compositions have been premiered on New York City concert series Guild of Composers, League-ISCM Chamber Players, Music Mobile, and the New Millennium Ensemble, California's Earplay, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, the California E.A.R. Unit, Boston's Alea III, Washington DC's Contemporary Music Forum and the Theater Chamber Players of the Kennedy Center. She has been commissioned by Battery Four Percussion Ensemble, Duo 4.6., the St. Crispin's Ensemble, and Bethany Beardslee. She holds degrees from Columbia University (D.M.A.) and the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana (B.M. and M.M.). Her music is recorded on Clef Records and AmCam.
