Goddard Lieberson Fellowship: Richard Wargo

Richard Wargo is Composer-in-Residence with the Skylight Opera Theatre in Milwaukee, where he is working on his upcoming opera, SIVE. Other works by Mr. Wargo include A Chekhov Trilogy, and Ballymore. His works have been performed by the Skylight Opera Theatre, Curtis Institute of Music, Dicapo Opera, Chatauqua Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Lake George Opera, Wolftrap Opera, Greater Miami Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Midwest Opera Theatre, and the Jigsaw Music Theatre in London. He has been awarded fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the National Institute for Music Theatre, and the F. Lammot Belin Arts Scholarship. He has been granted residencies at the MacDowell Colony, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in County Monaghan, Ireland. He is a native of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and a graduate of the Eastman School of Music.
