The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is offering free digital downloads on its website of the five Anniversary Fanfares the orchestra premiered between January and May 2011 at Music Hall. The five works—commissioned by Ann and Harry Santen in celebration of Paavo Järvi’s 10th and final season as music director and the fiftieth anniversary of radio station WGUC—include Berklee College of Music Professor Jonathan Bailey Holland’s The Party Starter and New York City native Charles Coleman’s P.J. Fanfare. In addition, there are works by Canadian composer Stewart Goodyear (Count Up), German clarinetist/composer Jörg Widmann (Souvenir bavarois ‘Remembering Bavaria’), and the Estonian Erkki-Sven Tüür (Fireflower). The five fanfares can all be downloaded from links to pages for each piece on a central portal; comprehensive program notes are also available.
