What prompted you to build instruments and what role should instrument builders have in shaping the future of music? David Monette

The job of an instrument maker should be to inspire musicians to new levels of creativity. In the world of trumpet manufacturing, tradition and convention have defined trumpet design for most of the last 100 years.

I started building instruments because, as a trumpet player myself, I realized that the modern trumpet was very young in its evolution. My job is to look ahead, get the equipment out of the player’s way, and hopefully inspire new levels of communication, intimacy, and growth.
