Movie of the Week: Hear Your Future

Sort of terrifying, yet much more soothing than the 9 a.m. theory classes we recall. For the hardcore FI reader, go directly here.

It’s been an emotional week in Internet land. Even before Justin pointed out the trials of a crashing economy, we took a cold look at the cruel financial picture orchestra CFO’s face every morning. At this rate, how long till we’re forced to explore other options? Still, some orchestra managers have it decidedly harder than others.

That said, the real drama began with a virtual real estate sale that may or may not have blatantly robbed musicians, depending on who you’re drinking with these days. The whole debate continued, as these things will, with passionate blog posts. In brief, an editorial was written, a debate about the $ correlation of music to profits was dragged about through the streets (and mafia references were made, just to keep things interesting). While we were yelling, fans had already ditched social networking for wikipedia anyway. If it’s making you feel tragically unhip, you’re not alone.

Yes, those multitasking youngsters always mange to stay six steps ahead. So is it really such a shock that what they value most is an honest, quality presentation? Remix whatever you like (famous people help), even throw in an asterisk (if you must), but who has time for selling-you-something culture? If you have to run your own experiment, be careful how you promote such antics, because the critics certainly aren’t going to cut you any slack—not that everyone thinks that’s a bad thing.

Spring has sprung, so get thee outside this weekend. Go ride a rollercoaster or something.
