[Ed. Note: The “snowpocalypse” which has blanketed vast areas of the northeastern United States over the past week has even taken its toll on our intrepid world-traveling chatterer Dan Visconti who was unfortunately in Delaware when the storm hit. Although he’s now back—albeit equally unfortunately in blizzard-scarred Arlington County VA—the essay he had prepared for us this week has evaporated due to the damage to his computer caused by the storm. His water-damaged keyboard, pictured below, remains outside his home. Apparently the sanitation department came around for a pick up, despite the weather, but refused to take away the synth. According to Dan, who’ll be back on these pages next week: “It was an honor to have been composing all these years on a keyboard that the garbage men won’t even take.”—FJO]
