OBITUARY: Philanthropist I. B. Harris, 94

Irving B. Harris

Irving B. Harris, the former chairman of Pittway Corp. who donated millions of dollars to programs for the arts and for children’s welfare, died September 25, 2004, at his home in Chicago. He was 94.

He and his wife, Joan, are longtime donors to arts organizations, most recently for the Joan W. and Irving B. Harris Theater for Music and Dance at Millennium Park in Chicago. They also donated generously to the American Music Center through The Irving Harris Foundation.
