The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded 631 direct grants totaling $29,775,000 to arts organizations as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. These grants are intended to support “the preservation of jobs that are threatened by declines in philanthropic and other support during the current economic downturn.”

In the area of music, 113 organizations were awarded a total of $4,475,000 in support, distributed in grants of $25,000 or $50,000.
