2011 Chorus America/ASCAP Adventurous Programming Awards Announced

Chorus America and ASCAP have recognized four choral ensembles for their adventurous programming during the 2010-2011 concert season.

Chorus America and ASCAP have recognized four choral ensembles for their adventurous programming during the 2010-2011 concert season. The awards will be presented in San Francisco at the Chorus America Annual Conference in June.

The following ensembles will be honored with cash awards and engraved plaques:

Chorus America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming
Recognizing member choruses that demonstrate a commitment to fostering and promoting new music.

The Crossing (Donald Nally, conductor)
International Orange Chorale of San Francisco (Zane Fiala, artistic director; Jeremy Samuel Faust, founding director)
San Francisco Girls Chorus (Susan McMane, artistic director)

Chorus America/ASCAP Alice Parker Award
This annual award honors Alice Parker’s career that has spanned almost six decades and has been devoted to the creation of works for the human voice. It recognizes a member chorus for programming significant recently composed music that expands the mission of the chorus and challenges the chorus’s audience in a new way.
